Yes, 2016 has personally been one of the most eventful years of my life. I know I'm not the only one who looks back at this year with a lot of bitter sweet feelings. Sure, some good things happened between the bad, but I still can't help but feel like I want to deck Murphy and his stupid law right in the throat.
Obviously, John Oliver shares this sentiment and this video makes me happy to see I'm not the only one who's had a cosmically crappy year. Hold on tight though folks, because 2016 just got longer. Yeah, only by a second, but still that's more than most of us would care to add to such a monumental failure of a year. I've seen a lot of people making sacrifices and pinching pennies. I'm definitely one of those people.
Despite the monumentally crappy year, there's a lot to look forward to in 2017. Creating newsletters has kept me more up to speed on the scientific community, which is actually putting some hope in my cold blackened heart. Maybe there is hope for commercial space travel, full dive virtual reality, and yes, even the fabled creation and programming of proteins.
2016 brought us us an election that made everyone feel like they're surrounded by idiots, some crazy high military tension between the majority of the developed world, some really cool people passing away, and in my personal opinion, a massive void in original entertainment across all mediums. So now that I've reminded you of just some of the horrible things that 2016 has brought, I would also like to remind you that we will be extending the year by another second.
Don't thank me, thank science!
